This specimen of pinkish garnet crystals comes from the huge open-pit Asbestos quarry in Quebec, Canada, known in English as the “Jeffrey Mine”. It was mined for asbestos.

It’s one of the largest man-made “holes” on Earth. This locality has produced the world-famous garnets and vesuvianite and many other beautiful mineral species.
