Description
Purple fluorite is quite rare in this quarry, as we’re used to finding it in green. The specimen shown here consists of a multitude of sharp-edged fluorite cubes on a calcite matrix studded with hematoid quartz crystals.
Close observation with a binocular lens will reveal small chalcopyrite crystals, and many other details.
It comes from the Artenberg quarry in Steinach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
