Description
Specimen of brecciated rock containing greenish-brown sphalerite crystals with beautiful reflections from the Beauraing mine, near Namur, Belgium.
The Beauraing mine exploited a breccia vein of galena with sphalerite as an associated mineral, the latter often being more abundant than the sought-after lead-based ore. The ore was emplaced during a post-Variscan period and filled fractures formed in the Givétien.
