Garnet (andradite), Black Lake Mine, Quebec, Canada.

950,00

This andradite (demantoid) specimen owes its green hue to the presence of chromium.
Its size is remarkable for the species and the deposit.
Its faces are shiny and, unfortunately, photos have trouble rendering the superb green color, which is much stronger in reality.
The crystal is floating and has developed in the asbestos mined in this enormous Lac d’Amiante mine.
There are no (or very few) known matrix specimens from this deposit, the Black Lake mine in Quebec, Canada.
