Hematoid quartz, Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain.

25,00

An old, relatively bright specimen of hematoid (red) quartz in the form of a hedgehog.
The main tips are slightly damaged.
The main interest of this specimen is that it comes from the former Aristide Gouverneur (1829-1898) mineralogical collection, with old handwritten label and box.
This type of quartz is rather typical of those found in triassic gypsum outcropping in various places in Spain, including Galicia and around the town of Chella (Valencia province).
