Description
Geode of centimetric chunky crystals of brilliant translucent hemimorphite.
The gangue is red and ferrous.
Hemimorphite was described by mineralogist Kenngott in 1853.
From the Greek “hemi” = half and “morphê” = form, due to the hemimorphy of biterminated crystals.
A mineral from Mapimi, Durango, Mexico.
Specimen from the Hubin collection, Neupré, Belgium, delivered with label.
