Description

Adamite is a mineral species composed of zinc arsenate, sometimes containing traces of copper and cobalt. This mineral is dedicated to the French mineralogist Gilbert Joseph Adam, who provided the first samples discovered in 1866 in the Chañarcillo mine in Chile. This is a classic sample from the Ojuela mine in Durago, Mexico. The green color is due to the presence of copper, corroborating the description above. Here, the crystals are spheroidal and very bright.
The deposit has also yielded some very nice wulfenite crystals.
