The Villette quarry in the Tarentaise valley, renowned for its hyaline quartz on dolomite and calcite, has recently yielded exceptional brannerite crystals in a metasomatic enclave, sometimes associated with native gold, a discovery recently reported in “Le Règne Minéral” magazine.
Brannerite is a naturally radioactive tetravalent uranium titanate.
