Numerous well-terminated brannerite crystals in a calcite gangue, from the Villette quarry, Aime, Savoie department.
The Villette quarry in the Tarentaise valley, renowned for its hyaline quartz on dolomite and calcite, has recently yielded exceptional brannerite crystals in a metasomatic enclave, sometimes associated with native gold, a discovery recently reported in “Le Règne Minéral” magazine.
Brannerite is a naturally radioactive tetravalent uranium titanate.
