Autunite and Torbernite, Les Bois-Noirs, Saint-Priest-la-Prugne, Forez, Loire.

495,00

Magnificent, large brown siliceous slab with excellent yellowish autunite crystals on one face, combined with very green torbernite crystals. A rare quality for the locality. High crystal density and perfect condition. The back of the piece is partially crystallized by torbernite. Torbernite and autunite are uranium oxides found in the oxidation zones of uranium deposits. This beautiful set comes from the former Bois Noirs uranium mine in Saint Priest la Prugne, on the border between the Loire and Puy-de-Dôme departments. This sample comes from Alain Martaud’s collection (with label) and previously belonged to Julien Lebocey.
