Adamite, Ojuela, Mexico.

40,00

Adamite is a mineral species composed of zinc arsenate, sometimes containing traces of copper and cobalt.

This mineral is dedicated to the French mineralogist Gilbert Joseph Adam, who provided the first samples discovered in 1866 in the Chañarcillo mine in Chile.

The green color is due to the presence of copper, corroborating the description above.

The adamite crystals here are spheroidal and very bright, set on a slightly orange calcite with a nice contrast.

This is a classic sample from the Ojuela mine in Durango, Mexico, supplied with the label of a former owner, A. Berger of Vienna, Austria.
