Description
A rare old sample ofallemontite from the famous Chalanches mine in Allemont, Isère.
allemontite is a mixture of native antimony and stibarsen, an antimony arsenide SbAs.
This specimen comes from a former Swiss collection (label supplied), that of the now-closed Bally mineralogical museum.
It even previously transited the USA, where a label from the American mineral dealer Foote of Philadelphia is stuck to the specimen, active at the end of the 19th century.
