Description

Allophane is a rarely well-crystallized hydrated aluminum silicate.
It appears as a white to green to red mass with a vitreous sheen, sometimes translucent.
From the ancient Greek allos (other) and phaino (to shine), because its color changes under the effect of heat.
This sample comes from near Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain.
