Description
A set of perfectly automorphic, high-quality bournonite crystals from the Pierre Rousse mine near Vizille, under Les Rivoirands in Séchilienne, Isère. The specimen features a variety of oxidation minerals on the bournonite, giving it a greenish-blue color. Very few bournonite crystals have been extracted from the mines and veins on the right bank of the Romanche (Vizille sector), compared with those on the left bank, almost opposite (Saint-Pierre-de-Mésage and La Mure). This piece comes from the mineral collection of Grenoble-based crystal-maker Philippe Glastre, who extracted it from the mine in 1975 and numbered it “PG 781”.
