Description
Magnificent crystals of automorphic cassiterite, a tin oxide, nicely set in a gangue of quartz and green chlorite. Beautiful quality and superb brilliance and color. This sample, whose origin is unknown, comes from the former Wherry tin mine, located south of the town of Penzance in the far west of England in the United Kingdom. The Wherry mine closed in 1798! Quite unusual! Here’s a video of these cassiterite crystals from Cornwall in the UK:
