This sample shows crystals of cassiterite, a tin oxide, automorphous or massive, associated with partially crystallized yellow lepidolite in a granitic gangue mainly composed of white to gray quartz. From the Beauvoir quarry, La Bosse, Allier.

The gîte is also known by other local names, such as “Beauvoir” or “Les Montmints”. Cassiterite and wolframite are minerals frequently found in deposits associated with granites transformed into kaolinite.

Harvested in 1993, delivered with the discoverer’s label.
