Description
More commonly known as datolite, this sample labeled datholite, comes from Bergen Hill, New Jersey, USA. The crystal is well defined and of good size (1.5 cm) for the species.
Datolite is a secondary boron silicate of hydrothermal origin, often associated with zeolites, minerals often forming in the bubbles of eruptive rocks.
This specimen is from the mineral collection of Deyrolle, a former naturalist dealer in Paris. It comes with its original label, which dates from the 1950s/1970s.
