Description
This is a highly original piece.
The original fluorite crystals were covered with a generation of quartz typical of the deposit, then with small cubes of yellow fluorite and chalcopyrite.
They were then “sceptred” with new yellow growth developed on some faces only.
The largest crystal (43 x 30 mm) is of the “lighter” type, i.e. parallelepipedic, a rather rare habit for fluorite.
This good-sized piece comes from the Burc (or Burg) mine in the Tarn region, France’s last fluorite mine, closed in 2006 and better known for its blue fluorite specimens.
