This large specimen features pink fluorite and adularia crystals on a protogine granite gangue, from La Verte, Charpoua sector, Mont-Blanc massif, Chamonix, Haute-Savoie.
A very fine specimen.
The largest pink fluorite crystal measures approx. 1 cm across the edge, is shiny and nicely pink.
Another measures approx. 0.5 cm across.
In addition to these two crystals, there are 4 other pink fluorite crystals on the same plane as these, from 1 to 3 mm, and some smaller ones.
The specimen contains numerous adularia crystals, often centimetric.
Adularia is a variety of orthoclase typical of alpine cracks, belonging to the feldspar family.
The thickness of the gangue conceals a few tiny pink fluorite crystals.
The piece is encrusted with green chlorite.
Protogine granite is typically leached and demineralized.
This phenomenon is responsible for the crystallization of dissolved matter into fluorite and adularia.
A large (17 cm wide!), aesthetically pleasing, high-quality specimen, representative of the alpine fissures of the Mont Blanc massif and their minerals.
