Galena in calcite, Rabotrath, Lontzen, Belgium.

35,00

These two attractive galena crystals are crystallized in their calcite gangue.

They come from the Raborath-Hauset syncline, more specifically from the Rabotrath mine in the commune of Lontzen, in the Liège province of the Walloon region, close to the German border in Belgium.

Galena is a lead sulfide often associated with sphalerite, whose rich deposits have been discovered in this area. The Rabotrath mine was part of a La Vieille Montagne concession in the 19th century, but on the Prussian side at the time. The company was headquartered in neutral Moresnet.
