Description
A rarity!
Hydroniumjarosite from the Trèves mine in the Gard department.
Mineral species verified by X-ray.
This sulfate, discovered half a century ago, occurs as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zones of sulfide deposits.
It can be seen here in matte, amber-yellow, hexagonal microcrystals, associated with more classic minerals from the Trèves mine, such as sphalerite, galena and dolomite.
The piece has been sawn off at the back.
