Description

Superb piece of moss agate, containing black manganese dendrites. Agate is a variety of amorphous quartz.

The specimen’s interest stems from the fact that it bears an old label that reads “QUARTZ Moss – agate SiO2 Laramie Co., Wyoming, FOOTE, PHILAD’A” and another $1. This is a specimen from the Philadelphia mineral dealer Foote.
