It comes from the Cros Gallet deposit, one of the gold deposits of the former Bourneix gold mine, the last gold mine in the Limousin region (closed in 2002), located in the commune of Le Chalard, some 10 km west of Saint-Yrieix-La-Perche in the Haute-Vienne region.
