A lovely specimen of native gold from the Mas Vieux mine, the third gold mine in Haute-Vienne (after Cros-Gallet and Lauriéras) operated by the Société des Mines du Bourneix.
The gold is clearly visible, standing out against its white quartz gangue.
A fine sample of gold from the Limousin, rather rare, as it was of course forbidden to collect samples from French gold mines without special authorization.
