Beautiful floating proustite crystal in a blood-red metallic color.
Proustite from the Freiberg mining district in Germany.
Specimen discovered in the 19th century, some minor breaks but an excellent piece of this particularly sought-after mineral species, one of two “red silver”. Proustite is a silver sulfide.
