Description
The Nil Saint Vincent quarry, in Nil-Saint-Vincent-Saint-Martin, a section of the Belgian commune of Walhain in the Nivelles district, Walloon Brabant, Belgium, has produced some of the finest Belgian quartz. It was mined for a short period at the end of the 19th century. Crystals extracted from these quartzites could reach up to 50 cm.
Now drowned, it is very difficult to find quartz from this source. The specimen presented here is composed of crystals reminiscent of Tessin habitus, slightly smoky and transparent. Beautiful piece from this famous locality.
