Description
Here are 7 very blue sapphires, some with automorphic faces or color variations. They are 3 to 6 mm long each. Very colorful!
These sapphire crystals (a variety of corundum) come from the alluvium of the Riou Pezouillou, a stream in the commune of Espaly-Saint-Marcel, near Le Puy-en-Velay, department of Haute-Loire, Auvergne.
These alluviums have provided numerous crystals of blue sapphire and yellow zircon. Today, it is very difficult to find them.
Specimens from the Bertrand de Lou collection.
