Description
Slice of green concretioned scorodite perfectly polished on both sides.
Scorodite is a hydrated iron arsenate found in hydrothermal deposits. Those of Djebel Debar contain in addition a notable quantity of alumina.
This piece comes from the mountainous massif of Djebel Debar, in Constantine, Algeria.
The nodule from which this slice comes was found during a campaign of the Service de Conservation des Espèces Minérales in 1979.
This mineral belonged to Joseph Mantienne (1929-2019), mineralogist at the Bureau de Recherche Géologique et Minière, then to the collector Eric Asselborn. It is supplied with its handwritten label.
