Sphalerite and galena in calcite, Beauraing mine, Namur, Belgium.

25,00

Rough and natural specimen of sphalerite in good red-brown crystals, accompanied here and there by galena, on a calcite gangue.

The Beauraing mine exploited a breccia vein of galena with sphalerite as an associated mineral, the latter often being more abundant than the sought-after lead-based ore. The ore was emplaced during a post-Variscan period and filled fractures formed in the Givétien.
