Description
Superb specimen of fibro-radiated stibine crystals and some chalcedony from Rochetréjoux in the Vendée department.
The Vendée antimoniferous district comprises two groups of deposits only 15 km apart: Rochetréjoux and Les Essarts.
The discovery of the Rochetréjoux vein, mined from 1907 to 1926, meant that all other work was abandoned. It is France’s second-largest antimony vein: 16,840 tonnes at closure.
