Quartz, calcite and titanite (sphene), Durnand Gorge, Valais, Switzerland.

20,00

Found in the Durnand Gorge, near Martigny, in the canton of Valais (Wallis, Switzerland), this quartz is embedded in a veil of chlorite on its first generation of crystallization.

Numerous crystals of titanite (sphene) can be seen crystallizing on the periphery of the quartz crystals.

A perfect rhombohedron of calcite overhangs the whole sample, giving it an airy appearance.

This is an interesting mineral association from an old collection.
