Superb historical mineralogical specimen (with old inventory number) presenting in association, large crystals of colorless topaz, aquamarine blue beryl, and smoky quartz prisms.
Beautiful set of minerals found in the 19th century, from the mines of Sherlova Gora, Adun-Cholon (or Adun-Chilon), east of Lake Baikal in Russia. The region was named Daury (or Transbaikalia) in the 19th century.
The Siberian locality known for centuries as Adun Chilon has been a prolific producer of aquamarine and other beryl colors as well as topaz, smoky quartz and a range of other associated species. The vast majority of beryl production was cut into gemstones, but many rare old specimens survive in museums and private collections around the world.
