Description
Wolframite is a mineral composed of tungsten oxide, the iron pole of which is expressed by ferberite and the manganese pole by hubnerite.
It is one of the elements, along with tin, that motivated the development of the Panasqueira mines in Portugal.
Here, the ferberite crystal is heavy in the hand due to the high density of the wolframite.
Note the presence of a veneer composed of mica crystals and multi-millimetre purple apatite.
